Teaching methods of engagement that, in turn, facilitate effective communication is the heart and soul of all services offered by Blue Dog K9 Training. Without meaningful engagement between you and your canine partner you cannot establish a line of clear and consistent communication - the backbone of a stable and reliable canine partner in any environment.
Establish a common language.
In order to clearly communicate, a common language must first be agreed upon in every canine/human relationship. Your dog can be taught the value of interaction with its human. Blue Dog K9 Training utilizes both classical conditioning and all four quadrants of operant conditioning to establish and maintain clear communication between their canine clients and humans.
Expand your possibilities.
Consistently utilizing a common language enables your dog to generalize behaviors. If you’ve ever experienced “disobedient” behavior from your dog in a new place, the problem is not disobedience, but the lack of the dog’s ability to generalize behaviors. Dogs can be taught that all trained behaviors are possible and expected in all locations.

Tim is amazing! Our Australian cattle dog, Mika, was a shelter dog and for years exhibited reactive tendencies toward people and other dogs. We tried about 4 other trainers in the 5 years we had her before we found Tim and he is hands down the best. He was the only trainer willing to work directly with her in our 1-on-1’s and she went from snarling and snapping in warning to allowing him to pet her. She even gets excited to see him now.
While the changes didn’t happen overnight, he equipped us with the tools and knowledge to better manage her ‘special’ needs and give her a better quality of life. Since working with Tim, her confidence (and ours) has gone up, and she is comfortable in situations we never thought we’d see. She was at ease and playful around my family and their dog and being able to show others that sweet side of her has been so great, and it’s all thanks to our time with Tim. We will continue to work with him and recommend his knowledge and services to anyone looking for help in managing their dog’s behavior. Thanks Tim! -
WOW! Tim is a dog-whisperer! I road-tripped with my sweet rescue from Alabama to Montana, and on the last day I was ready to throw "Shorty" out of the car! He had already been through obedience training in Alabama so he knew some basics but was had no recall or leash etiquette at all. Hyper, miserable to walk, and forget about being off-leash. I called Tim to see if he could help me out, and no lie...Shorty is now my best boy! Total transformation. My boy is soooo much fun to be with in the park, walking the neighborhood, hiking, etc. now. I can't say enough positive things about Tim and his training. Taught Shorty, and me as well! Thanks Tim!!!!!

Tim really understands a dog’s mindset, especially aggressive and reactive dogs like mine. After one lesson I had a less reactive and less aggressive and more focused on me dog. He also gives you the owner many tools and tactics on how to build on his process.

Tim is a very knowledgeable trainer. His skills have been effective in working with our English Springer Spaniel. He uses positive supportive/communication and gets great results. He explains his training methodology and is patient with the owners when we need reinforcement. Both Ron and I highly recommend Tim!!! 5 stars

I highly recommend Tim for any of your training needs. He has taken a few rescue dogs in for Montana Belgian Malinois Rescue and did a fantastic job, making them very adoptable. The dogs knew absolutely nothing when Tim took them - when he was finished with their board and train they were sitting, heeling, downing, placing, were crate trained and didn’t jump - overall were very well-rounded and manageable dogs. They were all adopted immediately, due to the diligence of Tim’s training. They were happy dogs wanting to behave! Many thanks to Blue Dog K9 Training!

Tim is a highly talented trainer that knows all the right principles for your dog to be successful. I had the foundation down already and he was able to meet me where I was at with my dog and give me that missing puzzle piece that I craved. My German Shepherd is nearly 8 and with the techniques and methods he has taught me my dog is thriving even more then he was before and our bond has increased substantially in the past few weeks. It’s all about engagement and having an inside job with your dog and Tim gives you those skills. As with any training you have to put in the work yourself and keep it up as a lifestyle moving forward but boy is it worth it.
